Immune-mediated Sensorineural Hearing Loss in a Patient with Ankylosing Spondylitis

Abstract
-Abstract-
Sporadic reports inner ear dysfunction associated with autoimmune disorders such as polyarteritis nodosa,
systemic lupus erythematosus, Cogan's disease, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis have
appeared over the years, although the basis of such events was unknown. In recent years, presumable
pathogenesis of immune-mediated sensorineural deafness and vestibular dysfunction has been reported and
immunosuppressive therapy in patients with suspected autoimmune inner ear disease is highly suggested.
We report a case of immune-mediated sensorineral hearing loss with ankylosing spondylitis, which
responded to steroid therapy
